border crossing

Border crossings are fun! Will you be charged extra by a Cambodian police captain? Will you be made to feel like a villainous reprobate? Can you get your legally problematic motorbike through? Everybody has a different experience. These are ours:

Quick references

Malaysia to Indonesia (Kuching to Pontianak)
Thailand to Cambodia (Phsar Prum)
Thailand to Laos (Huay Kon to Muang Ngeun)
Cambodia to Vietnam (Prek Chak to Xa Xia)
Laos to Vietnam (Bo Y)
Vietnam to China (Hanoi to Nanning)
China to Macau (Zhuhai to Macau)
China to Taiwan (Xiamen to Keelung)
Taiwan to Japan (Taipei to Okinawa)
Japan to South Korea (Shimonoseki to Busan)
South Korea to Russia (Donghae to Vladivostok)

We’ve also crossed other land and sea borders which I didn’t write about due to laziness. I’ll list them here, and if you want to ask a question about one just send me an email:

Myanmar to Thailand (Dawei to Kanchanaburi)
Macau to Hong Kong
Hong Kong to China (Hong Kong to Zhuhai)
Russia to Mongolia (Irkutsk to Ulaanabaatar)

Welcome!

You've found a blog about two people who, for 1.3 million minutes, travelled around Asia learning about its peculiarities. The process was a slow one, and this website is by no means comprehensive. We tried to report the good times, bad times, weird times, and interesting times evenly.
